A Feast for Art Lovers
Art in Action 2008 will take place 17-20 July 2008. We look forward to seeing you!
This year at Art in Action more than 400 artists, designer-makers, craftsmen and women, musicians, performers, teachers and
lecturers come together over four days to stage the most exciting arts event in Europe of its kind in Europe. If you are a newcomer to Art in Action
we recommend that you carefully plan your visit by using the left side menu to identify what you most want to see. One day is just not
long enough to see everything on show at Art in Action.
Regular visitors to Art in Action should note that the site layout is different to previous years so please look at the map in the programme before heading off to see your favourite event. Below we've highlighted some of the things which promise to make Art in Action 2008 even more special.
Best of the Best
This year the Best of the Best marquee is conveniently situated near the main entrance to the event. It's a great way to get a snap shot of the artwork on show across the event. Best of the Best is an exhibition for all artists demonstrating at Art in Action.
Each artist selects one piece of artwork to enter into the exhibition. On Friday evening the artists themselves decide who is Best of the Best.
Practical Classes
We've extended the Practical Classes this year and many cost as little as £5. Don't miss your chance to have a go! This year there will be more than 3000 places for both children and adults with over 20-subjects to choose from. Each class has a quota of places which can be pre-booked online, highly recommended if you want to avoid disappointment, otherwise tickets can be purchased from the Practical Class Ticket Office at the event.
Sculptural Garden Installation
A creative collaboration by four artists to build a unique sculptural garden. Jekka McVicar, garden designer and celebrated organic herb horticulturalist, Joanna Migdal and Jeremy James, both sculptors, and Philip Kooman, free-form furniture designer, have designed and built a one-off sculptural garden installation just for Art in Action. Jekka, Joanna, Jeremy and Philip will be on hand to answer questions and discuss their artistic approach.
Studio Glass in Action
The Studio Glass movement (individual pieces of glass art made in a studio environment) is a world wide phenomenon and Art in Action endeavours to bring you some of the best artists working in this exciting medium. A must from contemporary art collectors.
Art lectures hosted by NADFAS
Four world renowned art experts from NADFAS (National Association of Decorative & Fine Art Societies) present morning and afternoon lectures on Ceramics, Glass, Fine Art, and Furniture
